Choosing Your Faction

"This is it, this is the event. This is the event that will change your lives, for better or for worse. The sixteen-year-olds gathered here on this day will choose their faction to live in for the rest of their lives, unless they are made factionless."

[Hazel Smith]

Hazel Smith looked over the crowd. A decent crowd, she mused. Small, but more than expected.

She looked at the list and smiled at the name, next on her list of sixteen year olds. "Caslirose Delaroche." She called, her voice loud and clear. "Please come to the front to choose your faction."

[Cas Delaroche]

-hearing my name called, I smile downwards, to myself, rising and walking gracefully but purposefully toward the five bowls representing each faction of the city-

-once I get up to the front of the auditorium, I pick up the blade, and proceed to slide it across my left wrist, admiring the rivulets of my blood against my pale China skin-

-hovering my wrist over the glassy honesty of Candor and the watery Erudition-

-my wrist moves over the clear, but slightly pinked water and let my blood from my wrist trickle into the bowl, joining with the blood of those who are committed to a life full of learned Erudition-

-taking a deep breath, I return to my Faction, happy that I've made the right decision because I truly know myself and is best happy with those who value learning, criticism, and analytical prowess that I'll be surrounded by for the rest of my joyous life-

[Hazel Smith]

-smiles at Caslirose, certain that she made the right decision, then clears my throat- "Lily." I call out. "Please come up to the front to chose your Faction."

-walks to the center of the room, takes a knife, and hesitantly chooses Dauntless-

[Cas Delaroche]

-smiles back at the Director, happy that I've chosen a life full of passionate learning and uncovering unknown mysteries of science and the arts-

[Hazel Smith]

-smiles at Lily, certain that she chose what was truly best for her and what she desired in her heart, then calls out the last name on the scroll- "Liv."

[Rink Sampson]

-smiles at Cas, thinking how happy she will be surrounded by those of her own intelligence level, and grins and claps with the test of Dauntless as Lily joins us.-

[Hazel Smith]

(Cas, Lily, and Rink can go on to their initiation. I need to talk with Rink, but until we get more people, Cas, I will be your instructor. Rink, meet me in the initiation part of Dauntless.)

(Alright, Director, thank you, I'm honored! )
